The dreaded winter months are here … which means it’s harder to get out and do a lot of the things you would typically enjoy.

Our beds are warm and comfy, we’re not getting as much sunlight here in the Midwest, and there’s a lot of holiday treats lingering around us.

This can all lead to us not feeling our best and not giving our best efforts to our fitness goals, but there are ways around these feelings.

The common changed behaviors we see is reduced physical activity, changes in appetite and eating behavior, and lower energy levels.

Right now, I’m going to show you a few different ways to combat these, to keep you on track this winter!

It seems to be easier to get sick in the winter months, and that’s because the cold can weaken our immune system ... we’re not exposed to as much sunlight, and were indoors a little more often.

First things first, getting in your normal diet and movement is going to be huge for keeping our bodies healthy. Food like lean protein, complex carbs, and fruits and veggies need to be consumed to help you feel your best throughout the day. Daily movement is also a way to combat any sickness.

Aside from those, supplements help fill the gaps that you are missing out on. Some of the best immune boosting supplements include:

Vitamin C - Helps fight infection and shortens the time you’re sick

Vitamin D - AKA the “Sunshine Vitamin” because this is the vitamin we get when getting direct sun exposure. Vitamin D helps fuel the production of immune cells ... which fights off the damaging inflammatory issues that come with all types of sicknesses.

Full Spectrum Multivitamin - We miss out on a lot of different nutrients in our everyday diets and this is a supplement that makes it easier to fill those gaps!

Greens Powder - These aid in digestion, absorbing nutrients and provide your body with important antioxidants that can help improve your overall health.

We know all of the little snacks and treats can add up over this time .. and we know it's really hard to say no. But here are some other supplement options to help you with this.

Proteins Shakes - Protein is going to be the name of the game when it comes to any fitness goal. Sustained assimilation protein is a great way to make sure we hit our protein goals on a daily basis, and that's where protein powders provide a convenient and quick way to get those meals in ... even when we don’t have all the time in the world to sit down and do so.

Adding protein powder to shakes or smoothies will help support muscle recovery, promote lean muscle mass, and aid in achieving your physique goals this winter. These also help keep you full during the day and away from all the snacks and treats.

Metabolism Boosting Systems - These help with getting you to your goal from all different angles. They help with energy, stress, gut health, boosting metabolism, and appetite and craving control.

These can help give you that energy to get to the gym, avoid those sweet treats … or at least digest them a bit easier, and lower your holiday stress that seems to come around this time of year.

Now, you should have a much better understanding of what goes into staying as healthy as possible during cold & flu season ... but I know it's still tough to do consistently.
