With Memorial Day Weekend already here … it’s going to be very tempting to fall off track with your goals, especially with summer being right around the corner.
When it comes to seeing the best, long-term fitness results ... it's extremely important to adapt habits that continuously help you see progress.
Developing these habits becomes even more important when you get to holiday weekends, summertime, BBQs ... and everything else this time of year tends to bring with it.
All of those events, the warmer weather, the temptation to fall off your plan ... it's tough, we get it.
So, we want to hook you up with a few tips that can help you stay on track with your fitness goals... while still being able to enjoy both your Memorial Day weekend & all of your summertime weekends.
#1) Get Your Normal Movement In
If you know you have plans for the day, make the effort to get up a bit earlier and get that workout in. Not only will this help you feel better about your day ... you'll also be burning some calories & making room for the extra food you might be eating later on!
#2) Be Mindful of What You Are Eating Before Events
At any event, you’re going to be tempted with foods that are outside of your plan & it's still okay to enjoy those options … as long as you plan ahead.
Keep your meals prior to these events higher in protein & lower in carbs and/or fats ... this helps minimize the damage from the food you'll be enjoying at whatever events you have planned.
#3) Drink Enough Water
Staying hydrated helps with controlling your appetite. Often, we think we're hungry when we're actually thirsty. Try taking a big drink of water next time you think you're hungry ... there's no doubt it will help!
Water also occupies space in your stomach when you're properly hydrated, making it easier to not fall victim to unnecessary cravings & hunger cues.
#4) Stick to Lower Calorie Alcohol Options
It’s okay to still enjoy a few alcoholic beverages here & there. But making sure those drinks use clear liquor ... or using lower calorie mixers (diet sodas, low sugar juices, water, etc) can help keep those calories down.
Choosing lighter beers or seltzers can be great, those are lower calorie options too!
#5) Use Proper Supplementation
There's also specific supplements that can help minimize the damage when it comes to weekend festivities.
Things like greens powders, multi-vitamins, protein powders, GDA's, probiotics & digestive enzymes ... all great options to help you stay on track through these upcoming summertime weekends.
These can help with digesting your food better, making sure you’re still getting the missing vitamins you need ... keeping you full while still building muscle & burning body fat, and even helping you put those extra calories to use as energy!
You can absolutely enjoy your summer weekends & holidays ... and we want you to do so! We'll be right there with ya.
But if you have goals you want to reach, be mindful of your choices & make sure you utilize these helpful tips ...and you'll have a much easier time staying on track.
